The Dolder swimming pool has got your evenings sorted this August! Enjoy a post-work swim at the outdoor pool and then settle in for a movie and a picnic.

Dolder Wellenkino Open-Air Cinema

A whole two weeks of great films are scheduled this August at the Dolder open-air swimming pool. You can't watch the films from the water, but all tickets include a dip in the pool between 6pm and 8pm, and then a spot in the picnic area for a great movie from 8.30pm.

Basic tickets cost 25 Swiss francs, but you can also buy tickets with a deckchair, or even a sofa for real comfort!

The films are almost all screened in the original language with German subtitles, meaning most of the nights are accessible to English-speaking expats. The exception to this is the family nights on Wednesdays July 7 and 14, where the films are in German.

Food and drink

While you can bring your own food and drink to the Dolder Wellenkino Open-Air Cinema (and who doesn't love to compile a luxurious picnic of cheese and wine?!), there are also loads of options for buying food there. There's a terrace restaurant that is open until the film starts at 8.30pm that serves sandwiches, burgers, chips, hot dogs and salads.

There is also a cinema kiosk, open from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, which will serve you bratwurst and other grilled specialities, and a movie kiosk, open from 7pm until the end of the film, where you can get yourself all kinds of drinks, including wine and beer, and sweet and salty snacks like popcorn and crisps.

If the idea of a picnic grabs you but you don't have the time or inclination to put one together, you can also order prepared picnic baskets to pick up at the event. These cost from 52 to 79 Swiss francs for two people, and must be ordered when you book your film ticket.
