Estavayer Christmas Market
Estavayer Christmas Market, also known as Marché de Noël Estavayer-le-Lac, is a beautiful covered market in a medieval Swiss village. Estavayer-le-lac, commonly known simply as Estavayer, is situated on the main lake in Canton Fribourg, Lake Neuchâtel.
For one weekend only
The Estavayer Christmas Market takes place during one weekend only, unlike the Christmas markets in big Swiss cities that take place daily over the course of about four weeks. The market coincides with the St. Nicholas festivities. So, mark your calendars and get ready for a memorable day out at this picturesque lakeside market.
There’s something for everyone in Estavayer, from craft stalls, inspiring gift ideas, nearby ice skating, and, of course, food stalls. Imagine the chestnuts roasting on an open fire, the Swiss chocolate that looks almost too good to eat and the cheese that is produced locally. This is all ready to taste at Estavayer Christmas Market!
While in Estavayer, why not take in some sightseeing? The area is noted for its ancient chapels and castles, namely De Rivaz Chapel, the Sacré-Coeur Chapel, Chenaux Castle and more. Not only that, but the entire old town of Estavayer-le-Lac itself is listed on the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites and a few additional buildings have been deemed historical sites of national significance.
Estavayer Christmas Market opening times
The market takes place at the following times:
