The Lantern Path
Need something to light up your dark winter nights? Gather your family and take a nighttime stroll along the Lantern Path (Chemin des Lanternes) in the Swiss canton of Valais and be amazed by the magic of winter.
Walk by lantern light
The Jack Niklaus golf course located near the centre of the Crans-Montana ski resort is transformed into a romantic path of lanterns every year during the cold winter months. On the path of twinkling lanterns, you can also find original and immersive light art installations inspired by the wonders of the world.
The Lantern Path entertainment
Scattered throughout the winter weeks, there are also a series of events, concerts and magical shows that make for some truly exceptional evenings. You can find different troupes of talented artists wandering along the path and performing at the village of chalets (Hameau de Mayens). With fire shows, aerial silk acrobatics, stilt walking and juggling, the entertainment on the Lantern Path will illuminate your evening and help you forget about the cold weather.
Families with kids can have extra fun with a treasure hunt that can be carried out during the hours the path is open. Little explorers can hunt down thrilling treasures with clues and riddles leading them through the light. Everything you need for your family treasure hunt can be collected at the tourist offices before 6pm.
Food and drink on the Lantern Path
Add some deliciously warm mulled wine with fondue or alpine raclette at the beginning, middle or end of your stroll through the Lantern Path and you’ve got yourself a cosy night out! Chalets in the heart of the path provide the perfect opportunity to grab a snack to refuel for more walking.
You can also book a gourmet evening in an authentic Mayen with homemade cuisine featuring seasonal produce. There, in an old-fashioned farmhouse-style chalet, you can gather with friends and family while you indulge in a culinary journey from yesteryear.
Take a stroll in a magical winter wonderland!
You can find more information about this winter event on the official Lantern Path website, where you can also find the entertainment programme and how to get to the path via public transportation.
