Voix de Fête
Voix de Fête is a festival celebrating French-speaking performing artists in Geneva, bringing together all kinds of popular music trends in one big French-language festival.
Established in 1999, the festival aims to boost the spotlight on the liveliness of the French-language musical expression of today. About 50 percent of the performing artists are from Switzerland and the other half are from elsewhere, making it a very international and culturally diverse festival!
Celebrate music of the French-speaking world in Geneva
At Voix de Fête, priority is given to the emergence of new trends and creations - and French is the common language! The programme appreciates nuances in lyrics, emotions and musical innovation, all mixed together in a shared melting pot to highlight the richness of their diversity.
For nearly three decades, the festival has become an essential event for music lovers, while remaining a beautiful popular festival that gathers each year to celebrate music and the French-speaking world.
Why French songs?
In the current climate where English is becoming more widely used globally, the decision to express oneself artistically in one's own language is a strong cultural act that deserves to be supported. Voix de Fête offers a range of musical styles and linguistic variations from the French-speaking world, celebrating the diversity of French-speaking languages and cultures through unique performances.
300 million people speak and read French fluently, making it the fifth most widely used language in the world, according to the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.
Several international festivals - in France, Canada, Belgium and many other countries - have taken a stand to promote artists from the French-speaking world. And Voix de Fête has played an important part in this development in Switzerland.
