Most popular ski regions in Switzerland revealed

With the ski season now in full swing, thrill seekers across the world will be planning their next adventure in the Swiss mountains. To help you decide where to carve powder this year, holiday rental company e-domizil has revealed the most popular ski resorts in Switzerland.

Swiss ski resorts go from strength to strength

According to the report, Switzerland’s top resorts continue to go from strength to strength in 2024. The number of searches for the 100 most sought-after destinations in the alpine nation is 20 percent higher in 2024 compared to 2023.

At the same time, the number of bookings made via e-domizil and German parent company Hometogo has risen by 10 percent compared to last year. "The figures so far show that winter business has started very well for Switzerland," noted e-domizil CEO Dieter Rumpel, telling 20 Minuten that demand for Christmas and New Year’s breaks are particularly high this year.

Though guests come from far and wide, German citizens remain the biggest fans of the Swiss Alps.

Graubünden resorts are the top picks for 2024

According to their data, based on two million search queries made in the last 12 months, the Upper Engadine is the most popular skiing destination in Switzerland. The region, which features the resort of St. Moritz, offers over 150 kilometres of captivating ski runs, stunning mountains and snow as white as the fur coats worn by its affluent residents.

It’s set to be a busy year for the rest of Canton Graubünden too, with Arosa-Lenzerheide and the Lower Engadine completing the top three. Sporting 225 kilometres of pistes perfect for all abilities, Arosa Lenzerheide was rated as the best ski resort in the world by holiday platform Omio back in October.

In all, here are the most popular ski regions in Switzerland for 2024:

  1. Upper Engadine (Graubünden)
  2. Arosa-Lenzerheide (Graubünden)
  3. Lower Engadine (Graubünden)
  4. Aletsch Arena (Valais)
  5. Davos Klosters (Graubünden)
  6. Lenk-Adelboden (Bern)
  7. Jungfrau Region (Bern)
  8. Saastal (Valais)
  9. Andermatt Sedrun Disentis (Graubünden)
  10. Flims, Laax (Graubünden)

When asked what sets Graubünden above the rest, Rumpel said that having such a sheer number of fabulous resorts in such a small area makes it difficult to compete with. "The combination of unique nature, first-class infrastructure and extensive offers for skiers / non-skiers make these destinations the first choice."
