Twint can now be used to pay for flights with SWISS, company confirms

Customers looking to jet off from a Swiss airport in the future will now be able to pay for their flights using Twint, thanks to a new agreement between SWISS and the banking app. Those booking flights with Switzerland’s flag carrier can now pay with the touch of a button.

Pay for SWISS flights with ease using Twint

In news that is equal parts convenient for customers and dangerous for those known to book phantom holidays late at night, SWISS will now allow users to pay for their flights via Twint. The payment method can be used on all bookings which begin from Switzerland, and extras like bonuses, seat selection, extra bags and more.

The new system will allow Twint payments on both the SWISS website and the latest version of the airline’s mobile app. "The integration of TWINT as a payment method is a further step towards offering our passengers even more choice when booking and making travel easier and more individual," the airline wrote in a statement.

Popularity of Twint continues to soar in Switzerland

The news tops off the meteoric rise of Twint seen in recent years. According to its latest data, users in Switzerland "twinted" 590 million times in 2023, nearly double the number reported the year before. It also makes Twint the single most used form of payment in the country.

The app can now be downloaded and used by customers of more than 40 Swiss banks, to pay for anything from shops at the supermarket and public transport to parking. The system can also be used to send friends and family money quickly and directly.

“By linking Twint and SWISS, we are strengthening the user experience and bringing Switzerland's leading airline together with the most popular Swiss payment method," Twint Chief Sales Officer Adrian Plattner wrote in the statement.
