Want to get into the Guinness World Book of Records and get a free Swiss beer along the way? Well, now you can! As part of the City Festival in Lucerne, Eichhof is looking to break the world record for the longest toast by handing out free beer.

Free beer to be handed out in Lucerne as part of record attempt

On Saturday, June 25, Eichhof are looking for at least 1.301 volunteers to break the Guinness World Record for the longest toast. The title of longest toast is currently held by Coca-Cola Thailand, which broke the record in 2019 when 1.300 people in Bangkok toasted each other using coke cans. In true Swiss fashion, Lucerne has one-upped the Thai capital, using beer instead.

Those who are interested can grab a free beer (or alcohol-free beer) at 1pm on Bahnhofstrasse in Lucerne, just opposite the water tower. Once a sufficient amount of people are there, another round will be handed out and the record attempt will start.

Eichhof hopes the attempt will bring the Swiss city together

"The plan is for the first person to toast the second, the second to the third, and so on," said Eichhof spokesperson Remo Vicere. He added that, if successful, the world record would be announced at 4pm.

The attempt was inspired by the workers at the Eichhof factory, who thought that it would be a good thing to do together as a country after two years of COVID restrictions. To all those going to the Swiss city to participate in the record attempt, we say zum Wohl!
