Zurich luxury hotels offering discounted rooms to locals
To thank locals for being so accommodating towards tourists visiting the city, hotels in Zurich have come together to offer supercheap overnight stays to anyone resident in the canton. 62 different hotels - including the famous Dolder Grand - are taking part in the event.
Super cheap nights offered in Zurich luxury hotels
Ever fancied a night in the iconic Dolder Grand, but instead of paying 850 francs for a night and breakfast you pay 190? That’s exactly what is being offered as part of the “Erläb dis Züri” campaign. On two weekends in January, 62 hotels are set to offer supercheap overnight stays to anyone who calls Canton Zurich home.
The campaign, hosted by VisitZurich and Zurich Tourism, is designed to thank residents for their hospitality and friendliness towards tourists. “A recent survey showed that over 80 percent of Zurich's population are proud of their tourist city. We would like to strengthen this good cooperation with our thank you campaign,” Zurich Tourism director Thomas Wüthrich told 20 Minuten.
Super cheap hotel stays offered two weeks in January
From December 12 to 19, anyone living at an address with a Zurich postcode (8000 - 8999) can book an overnight stay and breakfast at the participating hotels for a vastly reduced price. Participants can stay the night of January 6 to 7 or January 27 to 28 - both of which are Saturdays. Only one booking is allowed per person, for one to two guests.
The rooms will cost various prices, starting with being able to stay in three-star hotels like the ibis budget, ibis Styles and IntercityHotel for just 60 francs. Four-star hotels such as the Hotel Helvetia and H+ Hotel will come in at just 120 francs per night. Finally, hotel rooms at the Dolder Grand, Hotel Schweizerhof, Storchen Zurich or the Mandarin Oriental Savoy will be offered for just 190 francs.
Be quick, as the luxury hotels are already selling out!
Zurich Tourism confirmed that as part of the deal, guests will also be given a free city tour so that residents can "learn previously unheard-of things about their own hometown." However, it’s advisable to be quick, as many of the most popular hotels are already starting to sell out!
