UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour
The ski resort town of Saas-Fee in Canton Valais will host the second Swiss leg of the UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour on January 23-25, 2025. Watch as the athletes climb the iconic ice tower housed in a multi-storey car park in this unparalleled event!
World-class ice climbing in the Swiss Alps
Saas-Fee in the Swiss Alps has hosted these ice climbing competitions since the early 2000s. For the 25th year in a row, the Swiss resort will host the UIAA event, featuring around 100 heroic athletes from 20 countries across the world, supported by the Swiss Alpine Club.
The competition is part of the worldwide finals happening in nine countries: South Korea, Switzerland, France, USA, UK, the Netherlands, Czechia, Slovakia and Canada. Saas-Fee is a unique venue, where a sizeable crowd of about 2.500 spectators has the chance to follow the action from many different vantage points in a 10-storey car park.

The competitions take place in the large parking garage in Saas-Fee. Warm clothes and shoes are highly recommended, because the weather is mighty cold.
The UIAA offers livestreaming from the competition, which crowns winners in the lead and speed disciplines. The event is organised in collaboration with UIAA and its member association, the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC).
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of this event, the climbing structure will be extended by 10 metres this year, reaching a total height of 32 metres! The ice event has long since established itself as a sporting highlight thanks to its one-of-a-kind location in the mountains, as well as the fun side programme. Side events at the UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour
The side events are legendary! There is the perfect entertainment for every taste and every age group - from Germanic folk dance music known as the Ländler to rock music to house music, as well as the exclusive wine bar in a converted truck trailer.
On the last night, you can meet the athletes up close at the "Ice Party". During the day, visitors also have the opportunity to climb on real ice themselves, in the presence of trained staff, of course.

There is a heated food tent with various cold and warm dishes, live music and a large screen showing live coverage of the climbing. In addition to a cosy wine bar, the event has two refreshment venues that invite you to linger, socialise and warm up.

For anyone driving to the event, please note that you must park in the parking garage for a fee, in addition to tickets to the competitions. The event is also easily accessible via public transport - a bus runs regularly from Visp to Saas-Fee. On Sunday there are night buses, so the festivities can continue until the end.
