easyJet to launch five new direct flights from Basel in 2025
Following the news that easyJet would be launching new routes to and from Zurich in 2025, the airline has now revealed that Basel is also set to receive a helping of new flights this year. The budget carrier is expected to add five new destinations to its schedule out of Euro Airport, starting on April 1.
easyJet revives popular flights from Basel
After several years on ice, easyJet is expected to re-launch its flight between Basel and Reykjavik. Every Tuesday and Saturday from April 1, travellers will be able to visit the stunning mountains, warming geothermal baths and breathtaking landscape of Iceland directly from Switzerland’s city on the Rhine.
Also on April 1, easyJet's new service between Basel and Djerba will take off for the first time. Departing every Tuesday and Saturday, soon visitors from Switzerland will be able to enjoy the Tunisian island’s fusion of great beaches, rich Arabic heritage, Roman ruins and delicious food.
From April 4, easyJet will also revive the old route between Basel and the Basque metropolis of Bilbao. Alongside its charming old neighbourhood and Guggenheim Museum of modern art, the city also serves as an ideal base from which to explore surrounding sites like the hermitage of Gaztelugatxe - famous for its role in Games of Thrones - and the town of Gernika.
People who want to visit from Basel will be able to take one of two flights a week, one on Monday and one on Friday.
Two Greek destinations added to easyJet network from Switzerland
Summer 2025 also sees easyJet add two Greek destinations to its route network from Basel, starting with the island of Skiathos on June 24. With flights running until August 29 every Tuesday and Friday, the island in the northwestern Aegean provides all the stunning beaches, towns and sunshine associated with a holiday in Greece.
Finally, between June 25 and August 31, easyJet will also serve the second city of Crete, Chania. The flight on Wednesdays and Sundays give holidaymakers a fast way to see all the wonders of the island and the incredible Venetian and Ottoman sites within the city itself.
