Every winter, in the village of Kandersteg, Canton Bern, the Belle Epoque returns with incredible events and a lovely atmosphere that transports visitors back in time to the early 20th century!

Blast from the past

For the entire week, this unique festival takes you into the past. All the cars are replaced by horse-drawn carriages, the shops are elaborately decorated to represent the olden days, and everyone wears long, ruffled skirts, old suits and top hats.

Along with the old-fashioned aesthetic, Belle Epoque offers a plethora of culinary goods prepared in traditional wood-burning stoves. Prefer something fancier? Try the delightful afternoon tea!

Swing by the stunning Belle Epoque Ball in the Art Novena Style to admire people dressed up like they just emerged out of the early 20th century - don't forget to tip your hat at the annual best hat contest.  If you're feeling daring, try ice skating or skiing using authentic equipment from the olden days.
