International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights
The International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH) is one of the leading events correlating film and human rights. FIFDH has taken place in Geneva, Switzerland for over 20 years, which many have argued is the capital of human rights action. This year, the festival will be taking place from March 8-17, however, it will also be broadcast online.
Cameras for justice
Along with a number of pre and post-events, the FIFDH has its Impact Days which are parallel to the UN Human Rights Council, providing screening and debates where human rights violations are discussed thoroughly. Diplomats, NGOs, victims, artists, philanthropists, activists, journalists, decision-makers, and the public are all invited to debate these topics in this unique setting, which will also be broadcast online.
FIFDH also has two international competitions: fiction and documentary. These offer a world-class selection of feature films that will challenge how the viewer sees the world. It’s a great festival for younger audiences, as FIFDH offers programmes for students.
The festival attracts around 40.000 people every year in Geneva with the plethora of venues it has to offer. The screenings are held in the centre, at the UN, in museums, community centres, sports associations, migrants’ shelters, hospitals, and even local prisons.
