Already dreaming of the autumn and Christmas holidays? Thanks to new services from SWISS, it will be even easier for travellers from Switzerland to visit some of Europe’s top destinations during the colder months. Here’s what new and expanded routes will be offered: 

SWISS to launch direct service from Geneva to Berlin

In a statement, SWISS confirmed that it would be dramatically expanding the flights it offers during the autumn and winter seasons. Unlike previous expansions, which have focused on expanding its route network from Zurich, the new plan will increase services to and from Geneva.

For instance, SWISS will launch a brand new service between Geneva and Berlin. Between October 28, 2024, and March 29, 2025, there will be a daily connection between the Swiss city and the German capital.

The airline explained that Berlin remains a top destination for both business and leisure travellers, thanks to its “cultural and economic dynamism” and its reputation as “one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.” They also argued the connection will help strengthen connections between Swiss airports and northern and eastern Europe more generally.

Expanded services between Geneva and top European destinations

SWISS will also increase the number of flights to and from Geneva, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Oslo from October. The airline explained that this would help satiate the growing demand among people from Nordic countries to visit Swiss ski resorts, and allow residents of Switzerland to better experience the “winter charm and fairytale landscapes of Scandinavia.”

Those craving a bit of sun as the weather in Switzerland gets frigid will be happy to know that flights to southern destinations will also be expanded. Flights between Geneva and Athens, Marrakech, Valencia and Malaga will all be increased during the winter.

With the connection to Berlin, SWISS will operate 21 short-haul routes from Geneva between October and late March, alongside its regular long-haul service to New York.
